Thanks for reading, and I look forward to everyone's help. I've read around that apparently Tiger comes on a DVD, yet I can only find CD copies online. Yet, when I check the disc via my Windows computer, it all seems fine. dmg format files and I have burned them using my Windows computer to a CD, but when I try to boot directly from the CD or by the boot selector, I get errors regarding the CD cannot be accessed. (Since each image is under 650MB, there are 4 images, to create 4 CD's to reinstall the OS) I looked up the model online and it seems that this model of a mac should run Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, so I looked up the discs online and found a 4 part set of images to be burned. If you’re already on macOS Big Sur you can re-download the installer with these instructions) From the command line, create the disk image DMG file destination and temporary volume by issuing the following command: hdiutil create -o /tmp/MacOSBigSur -size 16500m -volname MacOSBigSur -layout SPUD -fs HFS+J. Unfortunately he doesn't have any of the original discs or remembers the password, which is why I want to wipe it. I decided to wipe it clean and try out this mac. I recently received an old iBook G4 from a friend who no longer needs it.
